Party Planning
The Forgotten Concept
By Derek B. Groves
Example 2:
You just bought a house, and you want your friends to see it for the first time. Again, find something about it that you love. What made you buy it? It could be the rich Georgian architecture, the color of the guest bedroom or simply the pool. Whatever the case, pinpoint that thing, and start brainstorming. If it is architecture, think of the culture or historic events of that time period. Maybe you fell in love with the home because of the pool. I'm sure your guests will love it just as much as you do, so use its beauty to inspire the party. If it is the vivid color of coral in the upstairs guest bedroom that makes your heart skip a beat, then base your table flowers, linens and foods on that same color. I guarantee you, your guests will not only learn something new about you, but it will take the "come see how wonderful our new house is" out of "open house" and replace it with a more intimate feeling.
Establishing an overall design concept will make party planning easier from the start and will give your party a unique reason to be remembered. It takes the focus away from you, and it offers something special to your guests. Happy party planning!
